Passive mode feels great for temp below 40deg. I’m still wondering if there is any way to change limits from 80 deg to some lower value, so the body does not feel warm and fans start to run earlier. I always used a desktop PC where fans run all the time and temps basically aren’t the case for me. It’s my first laptop and i’m still gettin’ to it. So it looks like, i’ve panicked to quickly and fans are running properly. When temps go up above 80deg, then fans start to cool and even speed up a little, then the temp start falling to 40 deg, and when the load disappears, the fans turn off.
I made another test, this time with “always on fan” turned off in BIOS and the same cpu-x benchmark for 6 threads for 3 mins. I think it’s not the most demanding benchmark anyways (maybe?) ini as the temperature where the fan would turn off on its own. (default31 on 4530s) Edit XX in the first line of this. The 'fake' CPU temp can be set by editing HP32startXX. The benchmark was prime number for 3 minutes and 6 cores. This enables full control of the fan and uses the GPU temp as reference for turning the fan on/off/faster/slower. I’ve checked the boxes in gkrellm and monitored it while running cpu-x benchmark. Just with this step the laptop will idle at lower temperatures and you will have less fan noise. This will make the laptop idle at 800Mhz, just like the battery. (Will explain later) b) From the Power options set the plugged-in MINIMUM CPU frequency at 5 (Just like Battery). All other options during the scan had no sensors found. a) Put the Power slider on Better Performance. It seems to appear this way every time i run sensors-detect.
